Gregory Armstrong

1967-2014 PITTSFIELD Mr. Gregory Armstrong, 47, of 462 Tyler St., passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Indianapolis, Ind. on April 22, 1967 the son of Pam Blair Armstrong and the late Walter Armstrong, he moved to Naples, Fla. at a young age where he attended schools. He was a 1985 graduate of Barrons Collier High School. After graduating high school, Mr. Armstrong enlisted in the Army. He served from 1986 until his discharge in 1994. He served three tours of duty in Desert Storm and also was stationed in southwest Asia. Greg operated a cleaning business in Lady Lake, Fla. Upon moving to Pittsfield in 2005 he worked for the local Laborers Union 473 as a construction worker. Besides his mother, Pam, Mr. Armstrong is survived by his wife, partner and best friend, Tammy Brown-Armstrong and his beautiful ray of sunshine, his daughter, Kyla Brown-Armstrong; his son, William and his wife, Jennifer Hull and his darling grandson, Nathanial Hull of El Paso, Texas; a brother, John Armstrong and his wife, Angela of Bismarck, N.D.; two sisters, Jennifer Tolley and her husband, Jon of Asheville, N.C. and Angie Armstrong of Richmond, Va.; nieces and nephews, Jessica Reinhart, Kristina and Clay Taylor, Hunter Brackett, Kennedy Armstrong, John, CJ, Jenna, Shane, Brandon and Seth Armstrong; a great niece, Avery Taylor, and numerous aunts and uncles from all over; his mother-in-law, Betty Thayer; father-in-law, Frank Brown and his partner, Barbara Mills of Hinsdale; brother-in-law, Shaun Brown and his partner, Alberto Arcila of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Breanna Brown and her mother, Debra Cronin-Brown of Daytona Beach, Fla.; his adopted families, the Lester family and the Snow family of Florida. He is also survived by all his hunting buddies and friends from the Polish Falcons, Nest 580, where he was a member. He was predeceased by his father, Walter Armstrong and his father-in-law, James "Chipper" Thayer. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Gregory Armstrong will be Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 12 noon at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, Mass. with the Rev. Richard Hayes, Chaplain of HospiceCare in the Berkshires, officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours will precede the service from 10 a.m. until noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elizabeth Thayer, in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home and will be used to establish an educational fund for his daughter, Kyla.
