John J. Kenney Jr.

1964 - 2014 PITTSFIELD John Joseph Kenney, Jr., 49, of 83 Norman Avenue, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident earlier in the day. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 13, 1964, a son of the late John J. Kenney, Sr., and Barbara Jean LeClair Kenney, he was educated in local schools and attended Pittsfield High School. He had served with the US Army. For more than ten years, Mr. Kenney had been a carpenter. He owned and operated Handyman Services, and had also worked as a mechanic and a cook, as well. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Kenney leaves his wife, the former Eleanor Holmes, whom he married Feb. 5, 1984. He is survived by three daughters, Sonya Kenney, Sarah Kenney, and Sabrina Kenney, all of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Anthony, Abrianna, Jazmin, and Rylie; a brother, Daniel Kenney and his wife, Tracy, of Pittsfield; three sisters, Laurie Starbird and her husband, Bob, Debra Mayernik and her husband, Jeff, and Cheryl Wood and her husband, Chris, all of Pittsfield; his mother-in-law, Molly Holmes, and nieces and nephews, David and Steven Fish, Holly and Adam Amuso, Cheyenne and Robert Starbird, Cassidy and Camille Kenney, Tara and Lisa Kenney, and Keri and Kayla MacIntosh. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for John Joseph Kenney, Jr., will be held Monday, July 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eleanor Kenney (to assist with final expenses) in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
