Wallace Kermit "Wally" LaFleur

1928 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Wallace Kermit "Wally" LaFleur, 85, of 625 Ashland St., died Thursday July 31, 2014, at North Adams Commons. He was born in North Adams on Sept. 24, 1928, son of Kermit and Mary (Skorupski) LaFleur. He attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy. Wally was last employed by the City of North Adams as a police officer for 33 years until his retirement in 1992. Before that, he worked in carpentry, building homes with his father. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. He enjoyed wood-cutting. Wally and his wife operated a craft business for many years. He had a passion for airplanes and Hilo, Hawaii. Wally enjoyed spending time with friends at McDonald's and Papa Gino's. He also enjoyed trips to the casino. Survivors include his wife, the former Irene Bombardier, whom he married on Sept. 23, 1950; two daughters, Sherry LaFleur of Adams and Shelly LaFleur-Morris and her husband, Kevin, of St. Albans, Vt., and three grandchildren, Danielle Menard, Ryan Menard, and Joshua Morris. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Wally LaFleur will be Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the in care of the funeral home.
