Kathleen C. Disco

1928 - 2016 Kathleen C. Disco, 87, of Minneapolis MN passed away on January 31, 2016, after suffering a stroke. The will be no funeral service at this time per the family's request. The deceased wished to be cremated and her ashes will be joined with her late husband, John E. Disco, at a future date. Kathleenwas born to Catherine E. (Haggerty) Coty and Adrian P. Coty in Pittsfield, MAon September 28, 1928. From a very early age she performed in the community and was a soloist for several hundred church weddings. She studied piano at the Pittsfield Community Music School and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1946. She was a long time soloist in St. Mark's Church and a member of the South Congregational Cantata Choir. Throughout the years she also performed with the Pittsfield Town Players and the Berkshire Lyric Theater. Kathleen was married to John E. Disco on October 8, 1955. They had 4 daughters and were married until his untimely death in 1967. While raising her family, Kathleen obtained her Bachelor's degree and later, her Master's degree from North Adams State College. She worked as an elementary music teacher in the Pittsfield Schools for 20 years where she enjoyed planning and conducting choruses for winter and spring concerts. Kathleen was preceded in death in 1994 by her eldest daughter, Michelle A. Disco. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn M. (Disco) Boisvert of Blackstone MA, Anna Disco of Fridley MN, and Barbara L. (Disco) Papandrea of Manchester CT; as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Berkshire Music School on Wendell Ave in Pittsfield. The family of Kathleen wishes to thank the staff of Presbyterian Homes of Johanna Shores, in Arden Hills MN for the wonderful care they gave to Kathleen the past 2 years while she was a resident there.
