She was active in her church in various capacities and especially enjoyed her quilting group. Cindy also made quilts for Quilts of Valor. She was involved with her grandchildren's activities and sporting events, and volunteered her time at the Marion Public Schools, where her daughter teaches.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Gary; son, Bruce (Pennie), of Lompoc, California; daughter, Melissa (Jon) Horstman, of Cadillac; her father, George Wood, of Big Rapids; three grandchildren, Ashley (Cole), Nicholas and Marlee; her mother-in-law, Julia Schuberg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence, and daughter-in-law, Jodi.

Funeral services will be at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery. Cindy's family will greet friends at the church at 3 p.m. on Thursday until time of services.
