MOUNT PLEASANT -- Johnny Max Kimbell, 59, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, in Mount Pleasant.

He was born Nov. 19, 1958, in Oakland, California, the son of Max and Vernetta (Loomis) Kimbell. John graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 1976 and entered into the U.S. Air Force in 1978. After 20 years of service, John was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1998.

John loved Greek mythology, sculpting, painting, writing, history, riding his motorcycle, music and movies. He was gifted with a great memory and could quote lines from most movies. His enthusiastic and charismatic personality will not soon be forgotten. He was an old spirit, funny and had a good sense of humor. John was very supportive of his children and their endeavors.

John is survived by three sons, Kenneth, of Mount Pleasant, Thomas (Anastasia), of Grand Rapids, and Gregory Kimbell, of Vancouver, British Columbia; his mother, Vernetta Kimbell, of Roswell, New Mexico; four siblings, Kathrene Pollock, of Roswell, New Mexico, Stephen (Laura) Kimbell, of Barryton, Brian Kimbell, of Roswell, New Mexico, and Janet (Mike) Jolman, of Barryton; and numerous, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and close friends.

John was preceded in death by his father, Max, in 2011. His beloved dog, Mimi, died on Aug. 12, 2018.
