GRANDVILLE -- Patrica L. Janssens (Vogg), 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 30, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Janssens; and her parents, Melvin and Neva Vogg.

She will be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Doug (Judi) Vogg and Vinny (Robin) Vogg; and nieces and nephews, Mandi (Kevin) Schreiner, Adam (Shay) Vogg, Shelby Vogg and Hayley Vogg. She had many close friends from Grandville High, including Suzi Cook, Chris MacDonald and Tom Nauta; and from the Gun Lake Casino, Bev and Laurie. Pat stayed close with her relatives and extended family, many of whom lived in the Stanwood area. Judy and Ted Bell frequently made the trip to Grandville to visit Pat.

Pat was valedictorian of the first graduating class of Morley Stanwood High School. She obtained her mathematics degree and Master's in Education from Ferris State University.

Pat went on to teach math at Grandville High School for 34 years, and served as president of the Grandville Teachers Association.

She loved playing bridge with her buddies, Nancy, Kathy and Ellen. She was an avid and loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan State Spartans -- Pat donated her body to MSU. After retiring from teaching, one of Pat's main hobbies was enjoying the Gun Lake Casino. She was often heard exclaiming, "They built that casino way too close to my house!"

A visitation in remembrance and celebration of Pat's life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at Cook Memorial Chapel's east building, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan.

Pat wants everyone to remember the good times, so please come and share stories and memories. She also wants anyone attending her remembrance to dress casually, which means blue jeans are encouraged.

In memory of Pat and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grandville Education Foundation or the Red Cross. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at cookcares.com.
