Aida Valenzuela, 66, of Colorado City went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 22, 2015. She was born on Jan. 8, 1949, the daughter of Ventura and Concha Carrasco Calderon, in Big Spring Texas.|
The majority of Aida's working life was spent working at Fuller's, where she retired as a shift manager after more than 17 years. Her fun-loving attitude made her a joy to work with and all of her customers loved seeing her when they came in to do their shopping.
Aida was a free spirit who took joy in life to its fullest. She was an independent, spunky, and spontaneous woman who loved to joke around, but could be blunt or even serious when the situation called for it. She was one of the spearheads of the Blue Santa Claus Donation Program that is put on by the Colorado City Police Department.
She found great joy in dancing, especially the cumbia. When not working or doing any of her many volunteer activities such as Relay for Life and her part in the St. Ann's fall festival, Aida was working on spoiling each of her grandchildren and many of the neighborhood children.
Aida is survived by her two sons, Frank Briseno and Catherine Maeder of Lubbock and Andrew Briseno and Misty Pineda of Colorado City; four grandchildren, Sabastian Briseno, Aston Briseno, Aedan Briseno and Azlyn Briseno; one sister, Lupe Garcia of Big Spring; and a brother ,Ventura Calderon Jr. of Big Spring.
A visitation for Aida will be held in the Kiker-Seale chapel at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home on Monday, May 25, from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary being held at 7 p.m. A funeral mass for Aida will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church of Colorado City. Interment will follow in Mitchell County Cemetery.
