Al Aton, 95, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Craig Holdstedt, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.|
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
He was born June 27, 1919, in Endicott, N.Y. and married Kathleen Boatler May 12, 1945, in Las Vegas, Nev. She preceded him in death Aug. 17, 2010.
Al served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1946. He owned the minor league baseball team, the Big Spring Broncs, in the 1950s. He also owned Saunders Oil Field Equipment.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Barnes and husband, Don of Lubbock and Kay Reynolds and husband, Larry of Silverdale, Wash.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
