Alma Claire Simpson passed away on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, after a brief battle with pneumonia. She was 88 years old.|
Viewing will be from 12 noon to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Crescent Park Baptist Church in Odessa with Joe Acuff officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial in Big Spring, Texas.
Alma was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Otis Chalk Community, Texas, to Walter Bryan and Alma Francis Averitt. She was the second of five children; her siblings were Bryan, James, Shirley, and Don.
She graduated from Colorado City High School and married Delbert Elton Simpson of Big Spring, Texas. She spent her working years in banking and as a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husband.
Her passing was quick and free of suffering. She was blessed with a good quality of life until near the end. She remained living independently in her home until the end.
She is survived by her son Gary Don Simpson of Houston, Texas; by nieces Jeannie and Betty; and by many kinfolk and friends.
She was loved by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Campers on Mission.
