Charles Cooper, 85, of Odessa, formerly of Big Spring died Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home in Odessa; also the family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home in Big Spring. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Doug Shelley, pastor of East Side Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.|
Charles was born March 25, 1929, in Hill County, Texas to Lula and Marvin Cooper. He grew up in Big Spring and spent most of his adult life in Big Spring and Odessa. He worked for Union Pacific for 40 years, retiring as conductor in 1991. He enjoyed gardening and was a Baptist.
Charles is survived by his wife Della of Odessa; a son: Terry Cooper and his wife Linda of Odessa; a daughter: Cecilia Rice and her husband Collins of Odessa; grandchildren, Kristeen Dunnam and her husband Matt of Cedar Park, Clint Rice and his wife Tiffany of Lubbock and Chelsea Rice of Odessa; great-grandchildren, Chase Holder, Violet Dunnam, and Cambri Rice; and his little dog and best friend, Bo.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one brother, John Cooper.
