Danny Ferrell, 58, of Big Spring died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Martin County Hospital in Stanton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Trinity Baptist Church with Steve "Watty" Watson officiating.|
Danny was born July 12, 1956, in Denison, Texas to Mary and Roy Ferrell. He moved to Big Spring in 1973 when his father was stationed at Webb Air Force Base. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1975. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He received his master's degree from Angelo State in San Angelo. He received his superintendent certification from West Texas A & M University in Canyon.
Danny married Donna Brown Dec. 18, 1981, in San Angelo.
Danny began his career in education as a coach in San Angelo, and then became principal at Paint Rock. He went to White Deer as an elementary principal, then high school principal, and then superintendent. Danny returned to Big Spring in 2009 as assistant superintendent.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. His hobbies were 4-wheeling, hunting with his son, and he loved the family rivalry between the Cowboys and Eagles.
Danny is survived by his wife, Donna of Big Spring; one son, Brian Ferrell of San Angelo; one brother, David Ferrell and his wife Maria of Mississippi; three sisters, Debbie McCain and her husband Jimmie of Sand Springs, Diane Fulton and her husband Tim of Lubbock, and Denise Ferrell of Big Spring; several nieces, nephews and cousins; mother -and father-in-law: Bill and Martha Brown of Christoval; and his school family.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents.
