Darrell Jackson, 82, of Andrews passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 in Andrews.|
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Brant O'Connor officiating. Darrell was born on May 12, 1933 in Borden County, Texas to Willie Amon and Myrtle Annie Bonner Jackson. Darrell graduated from Texas Tech University; he had also attended John Tarleton State University. He married Charlotte Nichols on Dec. 24, 1953 in Knott, Texas. Darrell's employment with Dowell brought them to Andrews in 1959. He was always fascinated with geological formations; he started his first water business in the mid 1960s.
Darrell was an entrepreneur; he loved farming and was involved in the oil and gas business, water business and many other business adventures. He owned Gaines Industrial Water, Andrews Industrial Water, Jaxploration Oil & Gas LLC as well as several other business interests. He loved Andrews and worked extensively to support and improve the community he enjoyed living in. Darrell was staunch ally of Waste Control Specialists project; his wealth of knowledge of geology of the western half of the county was true asset to the project and instrumental to help Andrews's efforts to diversity.
Darrell and Charlotte loved traveling; they traveled extensively all over the world and devoted a lot of time doing mission work with Michael and Jan Gott. His greatest love was his wife Charlotte. He found great joy in his daughter and son Kevin. He found pleasure in anything to do with his three granddaughters whom he cherished.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Amon and Myrtle Annie Jackson, his only son Kevin Jackson and a sister Eulene Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Jackson of Andrews; one daughter, Valerie Rene' and husband Bill Lester of San Antonio; three granddaughters, Jessica Blain Jackson, Caitlin Christine Lester and husband John Holcomb, Darcy Rene' Jackson; three sisters, Neva Green of Big Spring, Doris Smith of Fort Worth and Karen Walls of Glen Rose.
