Eva (Elvira) Gonzales, 81, of Big Spring died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.|
She was born May 27, 1933, in Big Spring to Cruz and Elauterio Valencia. She married Manuel Gonzales on Sept. 26, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2010. Her first job was an elevator operator at the Settles. She was a homemaker and housekeeper. She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Manuel Gonzales Jr. and his wife Edna of Big Spring; three grandchildren, Melinda Gonzales and her husband Stephen, Dominique Gonzales and Manuel Gonzales III and his wife Shirin, all of Big Spring; six great-grandchildren, Meranda Gonzales, Isaac Gonzales, Elijah Gonzales, Xavier Gonzales, Aiden Gonzales and Christian Gonzales, all of Big Spring; sister-in-law, Lily Valencia; brother-in-law, Salvador Sarmiento; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Santiago Valencia; and one sister, Manuela "Meme" Sarmiento.
Pallbearers will be Manuel Gonzales, III, Stephen Gonzales, Mario Gonzales, Angel Gonzales, Barry Propes and Salvador Sarmentio.
