Gerald D. McCasland Obituary
MSGT. Gerald D. McCasland, 81, of Sand Springs, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Big Spring Center for Skilled Nursing. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Doug Shelley, pastor of East Side Baptist Church, officiating. Burial with Air Force honors will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born in Quinlan, Texas on Nov. 2, 1933, to Ruby Jane (Dunning) and Edgar Cleo McCasland. He was raised in Levelland, Texas. He married Alvine Free on Aug. 7, 1997, in San Angelo, Texas. He spent 22 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant in 1974 from Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring. Gerald was a jet engine mechanic, known as SGT. MAC. He served in Vietnam, Alaska, and Oklahoma and went all over the world repairing planes. After the Air Force, he worked for Walsh & Watts Production Company and retired from there in 1996. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church. He loved fishing and motorcycles.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Alvine McCasland of Sand Springs; one daughter, Karen Craig and husband, Jim, of Abilene; three step-daughters, Ellen Franklin and husband, Kenneth, of Big Spring, Jo Ann Graham and husband, Don, of San Angelo, Tena Nelson and husband, Jerry, of Lamesa; three step-sons, A.J. Boudreau and wife, Laveta, of Muldrow, Okla., James Boudreau of Moore, Okla., and Hubert Hodges and wife, Lupe, of Big Spring; two grandchildren, Anslee Swarb and husband, Josh of Monahans and Chase Craig and wife, La'nae, of Midland; five great grandchildren and a number of step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Dean McCasland and a sister, Edna Earl McWatters.
Pallbearers will be A.J. Boudreau, Jerry Nelson, James Boudreau, Joe Fee, Chase Craig and Paul Platt. Honorary pallbearers will be Hubert Hodges and Jim Boudreau.
