Harold Bentley, 79, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at Alive In Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Bartholomew and Rev. Carroll Kohl, officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.|
Harold was born March 30, 1936 in Joshua, Texas to Dora Edith (Smith) and Oscar Lloyd Bentley. He married Janette Weddle on May 5, 1961 in Harrold, Texas and they moved to Big Spring in 1969. He began working for TEXACO in 1968 and retired in 1994.
Harold was a Charter Member of Alive In Christ Lutheran Church and was very active within the church. He lived a Christian life and set a Christian example. He loved all six of his very special grandkids, loved being with family and being a part of family reunions. Harold's all-time favorite was ice cream.
He is survived by his wife Janette Bentley of the home; two daughters: Cindy Carlisle and husband David of Big Spring and Carla Derouen and husband Steve of Groves; six grandchildren: DeAnna, K'Leigh and Brad, Caitlin, Justin and Keagan; one sister: Leverne Owens of Iowa Park; one brother: Doyle Bentley and wife Susie of Wichita Falls and one sister-in-law: Jo Ann Bentley of Midland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: O.L., Glen and Cecil.
The family suggests memorials to Alive In Christ Lutheran Church, PO Box 628, Big Spring, TX 79721-0628.
Pallbearers will be John Overton, Dan Miracle, Thomas Kohl, Richard Knocke, Terry Marshall and Neal Henry.
