Joel "J.J." Morales Jr., 40, of Lamesa, formerly of Big Spring, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 in Lamesa. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Leandro Gonzales Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.|
He was born Dec. 21, 1974 in Lamesa, Texas to Henrietta (Flores) and Joel Morales Sr. he grew up at Lenorah and Tarzan area. He graduated from Grady High School and lived his adult life both in Lamesa and Big Spring. He worked at Alberto's in Big Spring as a cook and at the Preston Smith Unit of TDCJ in Lamesa.
He is survived by one son, Jay Michael Morales of Big Spring; two daughters, Ella Marie Morales and Macie Morales, both of Big Spring; his mother,Henrietta (Olga) Salinas and husband Ruben of Lamesa and his father Joel Morales Sr. and wife Liz, also of Lamesa; one sister,Naomi "Mimi" Scurlark and husband Steve of Big Spring, two brothers, Gilbert Morales and wife Julie of Midland and Adam Morales of Austin; one step-brother, Isaac Hernandez of Austin; three nephews, Aaron Scurlark of Big Spring, Gilbert Morales Jr. and Gabriel Morales both of Midland and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
