Joseph W Raczka Obituary
Joseph W. Raczka, 73, of Big Spring passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his residence. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, April 29, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Myers & Smith Chapel with Rick Cunningham of 14th & Main Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
He was born Jan. 23,1943 to Lucy Lazzar Raczka and Walter Raczka in Manchester, N.H. He married Carol Dennis on March 10, 1966 in Big Spring. Joseph has been in the Big Spring community for more than 30 years. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for many years retiring in 2010. He was also a union member of the Union Pacific Railroad until he retired. Joe was an avid gun collector, was a proud member of the NRA and loved riding motorcycles. He enjoyed watching baseball and was a huge Boston Red Sox fan. Joe also attended many gun shows and air shows.
Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Raczka of Big Spring; one daughter, Kim Garrett and husband Joe of Texarkana; two grandchildren, Karissa and Keith Garrett of Texarkana; one sister, Gladys McGee of New Hampshire; one nephew, Kevin Raczka of New Hampshire; three nieces, Angela McGee of New Hampshire, Debbie Wylie of Paradise and Brandi Holguin of Big Spring and a very special sister-in-law,Betty Nelson of Big Spring.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Raczka; one brother in law, Jim Nelson and one nephew.
