Martha Christy, 80, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Lubbock County Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas.|
She was born May 19, 1934, in Lubbock to Joe Weatherman and Leva Power Weatherman. She worked at the Big Spring State Hospital for many years and later as a desk receptionist at Ramada Inn and Best Western. She had been a resident of Big Spring for more than 50 years.
She loved to bowl and was a member of Women's Bowling Congress for many years. She bowled on three leagues in the 1980s and went every year to bowling tournaments in Lubbock. In her later years, she sat with the elderly and took care of small children in her home. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church but due to health reasons she had not attended in a while.
She loved her Lord and talked to "HIM" every day. She felt that she was the most blessed person in the world. She did not get to often but she loved her home and enjoyed working "Word Find Puzzles" and dearly loved her professional football games. She also loved the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos.
She is survived by her niece, Nancy Rawls and husband, Wayne, of Lubbock and her children, Kyle Rawls of Minneapolis, Minn., and Lance Rawls and wife, Christi, of Amarillo and one nephew Jerry Lumpkin and wife, Nyoka, of Lubbock and his son, Dale Lumpkin of Carrollton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nora Mae Lumpkin in 2007 and her brother, Joe J. Weatherman in 2009.
