Mary Katherine Moody, 78, of Big Spring died Saturday, Feb 20, 2016, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center after a lengthy illness.|
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, with Dr. John Marshall, Deacon, officiating. Inurnment of ashes will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Mary Katherine Moody was born April 17, 1937, in Honey Grove, Texas to Herbert and Evie Lela Carter. She attended San Angelo schools and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1955. She graduated from North Texas University with a teaching degree. She taught at the elementary level in school districts in Denver, Colo., San Angelo, Texas, and in the Department of Defense education system in Germany during the 1960s. She especially loved teaching fourth grade students reading skills. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
She loved learning and continued her education throughout her life. She also loved her Sunday comics.
She married Robert L. Moody, an officer in the U.S. Army, on May 17, 1963. He proceeded her in death on May 15, 2008. She was also proceeded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her three children, John, David and Lyndel; and her two sisters, Sharon Cenky and husband, Frank, and Lola Kambri and husband, Max; and her church family of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
