Ofilia Flores, 92, of Big Spring passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Big Spring. |
A vigil service will be held Friday, June 3, 2016, at 7 p.m. at Myers and Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Deacon Johnny Arguello officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born Dec. 22, 1923, to Anita and Emeterio Rocha in Carrizo Springs, Texas. Ofilia married Manuel R. Flores, Sept. 3, 1941, in Corpus Christi. He preceded her in death Feb 24, 2003. She came to Big Spring in 1960, and she was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Ofilia was also affiliated with Guadalupana and was very active at Sacred Heart and St. Thomas in her younger years. She was a homemaker, loved to dance and was an avid bowler.
Ofilia is survived by one son, Juan Flores and his wife Karen of Ft. Smith, Ark.; four daughters, Oralia Tovias and husband John of Big Spring, Angie Foster of Big Spring, Mary Powell and husband Loren of Salina, Kan., and Margie Flores of Ft. Worth; two sisters, Eloisa Estrada and Tana Estrada, both of Toledo, Ohio; one brother, Nicholas Rocha of Carrizo Springs; 36 grandchildren; 106 great-grandchildren; 55 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Compass Hospice for their loving care.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Daisy Battles, Anita Massey, and Geraldine Lopez.
