Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Elwin Collom officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Terral Cemetery, in Terral, Okla.
She was born March 7, 1922, in Jefferson County, Okla., and married Haskell Colwell "Hack" Spivey July 17, 1942, in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death Jan. 15, 2001.
Opal worked as Dr. Floyd Mays' nurse for 22 years at Medical Arts Hospital. She moved to Terral, Oklahoma in 1975 after retiring, and returned to Big Spring in 2005.
Survivors include three children, Lois Hammond and husband Tommy of Tuscaloosa , Ala., Jerold Spivey and wife Judi, and Diana Bailey, all of Big Spring; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Kenneth Thomas Spivey; a son-in-law, Jimmy Bailey; and seven brothers and sisters.
The family would like to say "Thank you" to the Home Hospice staff, Jessica, Debbie, Cathey, Debbra, Linda, Margie, Jennie, Brenda, Emily, and Jana for the excellent care they provided to Opal.
The family requests memorials be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 2000 W. FM 700, Big Spring, Texas, 79720.
