Robert S. Ross Sr., 93, of Big Spring died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at his residence. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10: a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.|
He was born July 8, 1922, in Brady to Anne and David Ross. He moved to Big Spring in 1937. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Margarita Carrillo on Sept. 20, 1947, in Big Spring. She preceded him in death on Dec.r 13, 2013.
He was a medical Laboratory and X-ray Technician at Cowper Clinic and Hospital for 40 years. He was a member of the American Association of Bio analysts and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He loved music and played the guitar and saxophone and he played in a band for more than 20 years.
He is survived by one son, Robert Ross Jr and his wife Patti of Grand Prairie; two daughters, Irma Ross Chavez and her husband Orlando Sr. of Big Spring and Yolanda Ross Murray and her husband Les of The Colony; four brothers, Rudy DeLeon, Jimmy DeLeon, Dickie Deleon, and Juancho DeLeon, all of Big Spring; five sisters, Amparo Franco and Yolanda Mendoza, both of Big Spring, Carmen DeLeon, Mary Ann Faulkner, and Lizzie DeLeon, all of California; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie DeLeon and David Urias; and one sister, Oralia Urias.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Chavez, Anthony Chavez, Orlando Chavez, Jr., Orlando Chavez Sr., Benjamin Murray, and Leslie Murray.
