Rosa De La Garza, 91, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.|
She was born June 25, 1923, in Floresville, Texas to Guadalupe and Antonio Valadez. She worked for many years as a licensed vocational nurse at Hall Bennett Memorial Hospital and Medical Arts Hospital. Following her hospital employment, she was a caregiver to the elderly for many years. All of her life, she helped others in need.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys.
She is survived by two sons, John De La Garza and his wife Yolanda of Big Spring and Joe Robert De La Garza and his wife Judi of Haslet; grandchildren, Tony De La Garza and his wife Denise of Big Spring, Paula Shoop and her husband Dave of Leander, Andrea Ybarra of Georgetown, Tara Donovan of Cedar Park, Angela De La Garza of Las Vegas, Nev.; Stacie Stills and her husband Thomas of Weatherford, Misty De La Garza of Big Spring, and Antonio Garcia of Big Spring; her great-grandchildren, Nick De La Garza, Eric De La Garza, Alyssa Ybarra, Jerry Ybarra, Jr., Cheyenne Stills, Luke Stills, Kassidy De La Garza, Payton Clinton, and Talon Donovan; one great-great-grandchild,Addison De La Garza; and two sisters, Elena Jaso of San Antonio and Genoveva Garcia of O'Donnell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James; one son, Rudy De La Garza; one daughter, Mary Jane Garcia; and two brothers, Tony Valadez and Rudy Valadez.
Pallbearers will be Augustin Paredez, Charlie Mendoza, Milton Rangel, Mike Sanchez, Jody Flores and Joe Martinez.
