Robert Wayne "Bob" Myers, 78, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Midland Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service with Air Force Honors from Goodfellow Air Force Base will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with the Rev. Ken McIntosh, officiating.
He was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Miamitown, Ohio to Dolores (Noes) and Albert Wayne Myers. He entered the U.S. Air Force at Fort Thomas, Ky. Oct. 28, 1954 and was discharged from Webb Air Force Base Aug. 27, 1958. He has been a resident of Big Spring since 1954. He married Maxine Rosson Feb. 9, 1957, in Big Spring. He was a firefighter with the Big Spring Fire Department for over 25 years and retired as a captain.
He loved the outdoors - hunting, fishing and training bird dogs. He was a member and past president of the Permian Basin Bird Dog Club. He loved baseball and played semi-pro for the Cincinnati Reds and had also coached little league. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Bob is survived by his wife, Maxine Myers of Big Spring; one son, Rick Myers and wife Yvonne of Sweetwater; one daughter, Patti Hutte and husband Michael of Kerrville; four grandchildren, Rebecca Myers and Allison Myers, both of Odessa, Andrew Hutte of Arlington and Megan Hutte of Belton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
