Anne Templin Obituary

Jan. 10, 1951 - Jan. 16, 2016 Anne Claire Bagby Templin died January 16th, 2016 following surgery. She was born in 1951. She grew up in Crestwood and attended Minnie Holman Elementary through the 4th grade. She completed secondary school in Mountain Brook, attended the University of Mississippi, and graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She was the daughter of the late Milton Bagby, Sr., and Dorothy Arnold Bagby. Her Grandparents were Arthur Phirl Bagby, Sr. and Irene Blythe Bagby, and Wyatt Albert Arnold and Ivey Taylor Arnold. She is survived by her husband William Templin, son Geoffrey and brother Milton Bagby Jr. Anne particularly loved family places. She often visited the abandoned farm place of her mother's people in Randolph County and spent many days at the family's long-standing cabin at Lake Martin. She often said that the most beautiful and peaceful place on Earth was Lake Martin in the winter. Anne worked for a number of years at Bagby Elevator & Electric Company as an estimator-project manager and participated in the early construction phases of the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center. She also was on the board of two mining companies and had a keen interest in the exploration of precious metals. She possessed a keen eye for detail, and, along with her husband and son, later remodeled and decorated a number of notable residences in Mountain Brook and Redmont. She was a member of the Hermitage Garden Club and also the Birmingham Charter of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. She was clever, funny, and an ironclad friend. There will be a memorial service at Mountain Brook Baptist Church Friday January 22 at 1:30 in the Chapel. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made too Children's Harbor, The Alabama Kidney Foundation or charity of your choice.

I have been trying to "find" Anne for years. Anne and Jane lived across the hall from me at Ole Miss and did we ever have fun. Anne did the best "Aretha". She and I also spent 2 months traveling in Europe in 1970, never a dull moment. She was one of the funniest and most generous people I have ever known. So very sorry to hear the news of her death.

I am just now hearing of Anne's passing, and I am so sorry about this. She was such a funny, lovely person. I had not seen her in quite a few years, but she made a lasting impression on me. We got to know each other online and met in person several times over the years, and I just found her so entertaining. My sympathy to family and friends.

Anne and I were friends in the early 1990s. I admired her style and her sense of humor so much. I'm in shock.

Geoff - I remember meeting you at a dinner I hosted in Fort Lauderdale many years ago. Such a fine young man and your mother's pride in you just radiated.

My thoughts are with her lovely family..

I had such fun with Anne during high school and we went away to college together. Whenever I hear Aretha Franklin sing RESPECT, I remember Anne's exuberant humor and joy. Losing Anne is losing a happy piece of my childhood. I wish I had been closer over the years. Blessings to you on your journey, sister.

It's probably been almost 50 years since I last saw Anne. I will always remember how nice and friendly she was toward me in grade school through high school. May God bless her family. RIP Anne.

So very sorry to hear of Anne's passing. I knew her from school and church from years and years ago. She had such a positive outlook on life. I don't know her remaining family, except for "Young Mitt". Mitt, I know you will miss your sister. Way too early.

She always brought a smile to your face. Loved her laugh. We had many fun times on our youth and choir trips. Praying for you Bill and Geoffrey and Mitt and family.

Anne was my ex-sister-in-law and I loved her from the moment I met her. She was so full of laughter. Memories of when she would vacation with us at Pawleys and when I would visit B'Ham are treasured. God bless you, Anne. You will be missed. Bill and Geoff, all my love and prayers are with you.

I remember laughter when I think of Anne. What a delightful person! Her physical presence will be missed but her spirit will certainly remain.
