George V. Daniels Jr.

1939 - 2016

Mar. 8, 1939 - Mar. 17, 2016 George V. Daniels, Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama died peacefully among family. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, George graduated from University High School in 1957 followed by graduating from Louisiana State University in 1961 where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. In 1963 he received his Masters in Applied Math from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He began his career in Huntsville, Alabama working on the instrument ring for the Saturn Rocket, transitioned into the financial industry and, for many decades, enjoyed providing investment assistance to his many clients. George was a 35 year member of the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Central Alabama. He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club for 30 years, serving on the Finance Committee for several years. He was proud to say he was a member of the Duffers Golf Group at the Birmingham Country Club. George was predeceased in death by his parents, Will Conerly Daniels and George V. Daniels, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Vicki S. Daniels, his daughters Kellie Daniels Upchurch, Karen Daniels (Mark Allen) Treadwell, his step-son S. Adam (Alissa) Johns, grandchildren James Langdon Upchurch, Andrew Conerly Upchurch, Marie Anne "Scout" Treadwell and Margaret Adeline Treadwell. On Monday, March 21st, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, there will be a Memorial for George in the Community Room of the Emmet O'Neal Library, 50 Oak Street, Crestline, Alabama 35213. On Saturday, April 2nd, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM there will be a Celebration of George's Life in the Living Room of the Birmingham Country Club, 3325 Country Club Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35213. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Boys and Girls Club of Central Alabama, Emmet O'Neal Library or the charity of your choice.
