FAYETTEVILLE—Catherine McMillan, 98, passed away On Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014.
She was born and raised on the farm in White Oak until 1989 when she moved to Fayetteville along with her husband, Austin.
She attended White Oak School and at the age of 16 she married Austin and of this union was born six children. Catherine worked six years in White Oak School cafeteria followed with employment with Breezewood Christian Child Care Center in Fayetteville. While living in White Oak on the farm she worked diligently as a farmers wife. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed her friends, family, and her church at White Oak and at Breezewood where she lived a dedicated life each and every day. Catherine is survived by five daughters: Hilda Perkins of Winston Salem, Betty Allee of Fayetteville, Peggy Galloway and husband Dave of Harkers Island, Faye Gillikin and husband Ronnie of Beaufort, Brenda Godfrey and husband Ralph of Winston Salem; one son , David O'Neal McMillan and wife Priscilla of Fayetteville; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband, Austin McMillan of 75 years; one grandson, Timothy Dunlap; one great-grandson, Jonathon Morris; five son-in-laws, Buddy Suggs, Henry Perkins, Harry Dunlap, Eddie Barnes, and James Allee; father Charlie Thomas Heaton and mother Maggie Thomas Heaton; four brothers, Johnny, Fletcher, Horace, and Milton Thomas; two sisters Maude Plesants and Joyce Fenton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 2, from 6-8 pm, Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
The service is Wednesday, Dec. 3, at noon at Breezewood Church in Hope Mills with a viewing and burial at White Oak Family Worship Center at 2 p.m. in White Oak.
