CLARKTON — Raymond Thomas Bell passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015.

He was born June 28, 1940 in Philadelphia to Jerdan (Bud) and Juanita Bell.

He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Mary Lee, of Clarkton; their sons Lawrence and his wife Diana, of Wendell, Braxton and his wife Alison, daughter Samantha, and stepson Marrs, of Holly Springs, and Andrew and his wife Leah, of Kansas City, MO; his brother-in-law Paul, of Wilson; his niece Kathy and her husband Ted Sensenig, of Salisbury, MD; his nephew Steven Long and his wife Glenda, of Wilson; his great-niece Stephanie and her husband Andrew Vaughn, of Raleigh; and his great-niece Jennifer and her husband Jeff Owens, of Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his only sibling, Dorothy.

Ray faithfully served as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 62 years. He moved to Clarkton in 1962 from Philadelphia. He enjoyed giving of his time and energy building places of worship throughout North Carolina and assisting in disaster relief in the Southeast and Caribbean.

For over 40 years, Ray volunteered to teach the Bible at White Lake Prison Camp. He cherished time spent with immediate and extended family, members of his congregation, and many long-time friends in the community.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21, at 2 p.m. at Bladen Community College Auditorium.
