DUBLIN — Dr. Robert Lee Summerlin Jr., 86, of Dublin, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015.
Born to Robert and Cornelia Summerlin on September 15, 1928 at Summerlin's Crossroads near Mt. Olive, Bob was the 14th of 15 children, the only son who survived infancy. After his Navy service in Portsmouth, VA, Bob and Estelle moved their young family to Dublin to open his medical practice. After retiring in 1997, Bob enjoyed playing golf and bridge, swimming, and watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Bob loved the UNC Tarheels, and his church where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon.
Bob is survived by Estelle, his wife of 62 years; his four children Robin (Renee), Nell, Julia (Jay), and Mark; grandchildren Rob and Larkin Summerlin and Jackson and Jarrett Wright; his sister Nancy Goodson; and many nieces and nephews.
