CLARKTON — Sgt.Maj. Wilmer Clyde Waldrop, USMC retired, 83, of Clarkton, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at his home.
Born in Clay County, AL, he was a son of the late Charles Frank and Myrtle Johnson Waldrop. He was a retired Sgt.Maj. with the USMC having served for over 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Townsend Waldrop; two sons, Steven W. Waldrop, Andrew I. Waldrop and wife Mary; a daughter, Beth Waldrop Kleckner and husband Robert; three sisters, Dottie Martinez, Sudie Schlosser, Frankie Henderson; five grandchildren, Hannah Hill, Clayton Kleckner, Tyler Kleckner, Bud Patterson, John Waldrop; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 1, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 2, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with Pas. Tim Rausch officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
