MILLS RIVER--James Erwin Meadows, 63, of Mills River, NC passed away Friday December 5, 2014 at Mission Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Mills River. He retired from Kimberly Clark Berkeley Mills in 2008 after 39 years. He was currently working at Sunshine Chevrolet.
He was well known for selling knives. He enjoyed going to the flea market, piddling in the yard, spending time with his grandkids and always did anything he could to help everybody.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sheri. Daughter, Angie Meadows and partner Melody Tabor. Son Chris Meadows and wife Heather. Brother Richmond Meadows and wife Delores. Sister Judith Gosnell and husband Sam. Grandkids Lilly, Lacey, Topher, Sierra, great granddaughter Lailynn and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Paul Richmond Meadows, mother Ruth Posey Meadows and sister Janet Gordon. A memorial service will be held at Mills River Methodist church on Monday, December 8 at 3:00 pm. Following the service family will receive friends at daughter, Angie's house at 59 South Mills River Road until 5:30 pm.

I was saddened to hear about the loss of Jim. He was always so positive & never saw him in a bad mood. A truly uplifting person. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the commemoration this past Monday. He will continue to live on in all our hearts. The blade he gave to me now holds much more sentimental value. I'll always think of how great of a man he was & how his generousity was unparalleled. Sherry I am very sorry and saddened by Jim's passing. We worked on so many projects at the mill over the years and he always gave his very Best at any job he did. His was always willing to help anyone if they needed him. I will always have the Best memories of Jim. He was a great Man and true friend.
