HENDERSONVILLE - Sybil Marie Heffner Allen, the most beautiful Mother and "Gran," of Hendersonville, died at her residence on Friday, May 22, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was a proud Henderson County daughter of the late Clifford and Sarah Scholfield Heffner. She was also preceded in death by her only sister, Barbara Heffner Fling. At a very early age Sybil and her sister Barbara were well known in the community for their beautiful voices. They had their own radio show locally and enjoyed meeting the cast of The Little Rascals. After Sybil graduated from Etowah High School, she concentrated on being a loving wife and mother for her children. She was creative, fun loving and loved to cook. She was a natural care-giver and enjoyed helping others in need. She cherished her family and friends and will be truly missed, but not forgotten. Sybil is survived by her three daughters: Jennifer Allen, Juli Allen, and Jodi Allen Russell, and her husband, Kelly, all of Hendersonville, and one son: Leif Allen and his wife, Laurin, of Apex. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, as well as six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, John Heffner and his wife, Teresa, of Hendersonville, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, Bill and Grace Dalton of Hendersonville. At Sybil's request, her service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Sybil's memory be directed to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Baldwin, Nancy (Greig) - HENDERSONVILLE  
Nancy Greig Baldwin died peacefully at Elizabeth House, a hospice in Flat Rock, NC, on May 24, 2015, at the age of 84. She had suffered a stroke. Nancy is survived by her husband, Ray Baldwin, of Hendersonville, NC; her sister, Patricia Varn Somerscales (Euan), of Troy, NY; her three children, Mary Melissa Greig (Glenn Hoagland) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Emily Allison Greig McFaul of Seattle, WA, and Wm. Smith Greig (Holly) of Washington, D.C.; and her granddaughter, Emily Smith McFaul, of Portland, OR. Nancy was born on September 15, 1930, in Elmira, NY, to Harold and Emily Varn. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 1952 with a degree in home economics. She received her master's degree, also in home economics, from Washington State University in 1975. Nancy married W. Smith Greig in 1955. They made their home in East Lansing, MI, for many years before moving to Pullman, WA, in 1970. Smith and Nancy retired to Hendersonville in 1986. After Smith passed away in 1992, Nancy met Ray Baldwin, of Hendersonville. Nancy and Ray were married in 1993. Nancy was accomplished at sewing, cooking, and homemaking. She enjoyed teaching sewing classes to people of all ages. Nancy took great interest in staying informed of current events. She especially loved visiting her far-flung family, as well as traveling within the United States and abroad. Her involvement with many local charities, including Four Seasons Hospice, was a tribute to her kind and generous nature. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Hendersonville. Nancy would regularly tell her children that she was busy, busy, busy. Nancy's funeral service will be held at the First Congregational Church on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 1 p.m., with reception to follow. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Nancy's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Beddingfield, Carlos Wayne - Hendersonville  
HENDERSONVILLE-Carlos Wayne Beddingfield, age 78 of Zirconia died Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. He was born December 2nd, 1936 in Henderson County, son of the late Henry Franklin Beddingfield and Alvia Mae Morgan Beddingfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Beddingfield Jones. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County; Mr. Beddingfield was employed with Able Construction as a supervisor for over 35 years and he was a faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors; farming, panning for gold, and treasure hunting at the beach. He was a good and faithful husband, father, and grandfather; he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was an honest man, always willing to help anyone in need; he always gave more than he received. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary "Peggy" Blackwell Beddingfield of the home; his two daughters, Sharon Beddingfield of Zirconia, and Waynette Beddingfield of Pumpkintown, SC; his four grandchildren, Brayden Wayne Campbell, Amanda Winters, Carol Jones, and West Jones; his three great-grandchildren, Mae Elizabeth Winters, Lily Winters, and Kellet Jones; and his brother, Denver F. Beddingfield. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27th, 2015 at the Beddingfield Cemetery conducted by the Reverend Lewis Staton. His family will receive friends Tuesday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Thos. Shepherd & Son. Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations in Carlos' memory may be directed to Gideon's International, c/o Maranatha Baptist Church, Post Office Box 514 East Flat Rock, NC 28726.

Bender, Margaret "Susie"  
FLAT ROCK-Margaret "Susie" Drake Bender, age 76 of Flat Rock died Tuesday, May 20th, 2015 at the Elizabeth House. Mrs. Bender was born December 29th, 1938 in Transylvania County, the daughter of the late E.C. Huggins, Jr. and Kathleen P. Huggins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Bender. A longtime resident of Henderson County; Mrs. Bender attended Hendersonville High School and she was employed with Wachovia Bank for over 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville. She was always active in the community in which she lived; Susie served as a past chair member of Eliada Home in Asheville. She served as a board member of the community foundation and in her younger years, she participated in the Hendersonville Junior Women's Club and Junior Welfare. She served as a scout leader and Red Cross swimming instructor. Susie enjoyed visiting Myrtle Beach; she was a wonderful hostess, loved cooking, and entertaining her family and friends in her beautiful home for all occasions and holidays. Susie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Anne Drake of Newnan, GA; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and J. Michael Rabb of Marion, and Cynthia and Dr. Robert Chase of Truckee, CA; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Cooper, and Cassie O'Neal, J. Seth and M. Chelsea Koon of Asheville, Sarah Grace and Otarrison Drake; and her seven great-grandchildren; and her faithful companions, Angel and Holly. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 28th, 2015 in the Brunson Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville conducted by Reverend Dan Martin and Reverend Christy Sharp. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Susie's memory be directed to the Blue Ridge Humane Society, 88 Centipede Lane, Hendersonville, NC 28739; or to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Cabe, Jerry Charles - Mills River  
MILLS RIVER – Jerry Charles Cabe, 57, of Mills River, passed away following a lengthy battle with colon cancer on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Franklin, NC, he was the son of Arthur Cabe and Annie Ruth Dean Cabe. He is also survived by his wife, Beverly Russell Cabe; two daughters, Shelley Graham (Will) of Weaverville, Melissa Cabe (Andrew Harlfinger) of Hilton Head, SC; one step-daughter, Molly Reed (Jason) of Black Mountain; three sisters, Audrey Henderson (Tom) of Otto, NC, Susan Bunn (David) of Middlesex, NC and Sara Wheeless (Mark) of Raleigh, NC as well as several nieces and nephews and one great niece. Jerry worked for 35 years as an industrial machinist at Norton Diamond & Tool/Saint Gobain. He enjoyed cooking, woodworking and spending time with his family and his little dog, Kemoe. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Macon Funeral Home, 261 Iotla St., Franklin, NC 28734. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m..
