Danny William Camp

LENOIR-Danny William Camp, age 44, of Old Morganton Road, Lenoir, joined his father and grandfather in the Heavenly Fishing and Hunting Club on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care – Hudson. Right up until the end, he fought the pancreatic and liver cancer that invaded his body. He was born February 10, 1969 in Caldwell County to Doris Keller Camp of Hudson and the late Otis William Camp. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Otis M. and Carolyn Steadman Camp; his maternal grandparents, Willard M. Keller and Sarah Campbell Keller Boudreau; and a nephew, Benjamin Camp.
Besides hunting and fishing, Danny loved history (The Civil War, World War II airplanes), studying herbs, eating hot peppers, cooking, family get-togethers, and his favorite villain, Darth Vader, from the Star Wars movies. One of the greatest joys of his life was music. He played the clarinet in two bands – the Harper Concert Band of Lenoir and the Watauga Community Band of Boone, NC. He thoroughly enjoyed playing in concerts and seeing the audience enjoying the music.
In addition to his mother, those left to remember his love, kindness and sense of humor are his wife, Denise Kirby Camp of the home; brother, James Reed Camp and wife Crystal of Hudson; aunts, Kay Bradley and husband Gary of Granite Falls, Katherine C. Jordan of Hendersonville, NC; and Gwendolyn C. Miller of Hudson also with an uncle, Hollis Campbell of Granite Falls. Others who will remember his smile include his wife's family members, with whom he had a great relationship, various cousins, nieces, nephews, fellow musicians in the Harper and Watauga bands, and his dog, Shade.
