HENDERSONVILLE- David R. Johnson, age 92, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013, at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. David was born on July 6, 1920, to the late John and Nellie Smith Johnson. He was known as a wonderful ballroom dancer. David was an avid vegetable gardener and also a faithful volunteer with Interfaith Ministries. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville and a formerly of Peachtree United Methodist Church in Maggie Valley. David served his country honorably during World War II
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Johnson, and three sisters. He is survived by two sons, Larry Johnson (Gloria) of Hendersonville and Steven Wayne Johnson of Orlando; one daughter, Carol Danzer (Chuck) of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Carrie Stephens, Chris Danzer, Julie Danzer, Scott Warren, Brianna Schiavoni, Gabriel and Max Johnson; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Justin Stephens and Joseph and Anna Warren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, May 17, 2013, at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Dan Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 PM at the funeral home.
