James A. McComas, Jr.


LAUREL PARK - James A. "Jim" McComas, Jr., 82, of Laurel Park, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Elizabeth House after a lengthy illness.
A native of Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Gladys Whaley McComas and James Anderson McComas, Sr. He had lived in Severna Park, Md., Richmond, Va., and Abingdon, Va., before moving to Henderson County in 2007. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and served in the U.S Army following the Korean War. He was employed by the State of Maryland and then the City of Richmond, Va., where he was involved in the economic development of both regions. He retired in 1990.
He enjoyed travel, live theater, classic films, music, and was an avid reader.
Mr. McComas is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn McComas and two daughters, Jennifer A. McComas, of Bloomington, Ind. and Lisa J. McCraw, of Hendersonville.
Services will be held privately.
