MILLS RIVER - Kenneth Leroy Packard, 72, of Mills River, went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2013, after a brief illness.
He is survived by Judith Packard, his wife of 52 years; three daughters, Robin Packard and her fiance, James Spencer of Greensboro, N.C,, Joan Connell and husband, James, of Horse Shoe, N.C., and Dawn Robertson and husband, Steve, of Marshall, N.C.; as well as a niece and nephew whom he considered his own children, Monique Wolf and husband, Robert, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Michael Duchesne and wife, Linda, of Spokane, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, William Packard and wife, Barbara, of Wolcott, N.Y.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Rena Cherry.
He was a member of Etowah Methodist Church where he actively participated in the music ministry and the food pantry Fishes and Loaves. A builder by trade, he loved building both homes and friendships with everyone he met. His legacy lives on through his loving spirit and generosity to his family and community.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. April 6, 2013, at Etowah Methodist Church.
