Parasadie Gentry

Mrs. Parasadie Gentry, 94, our loving mother, wife, grandmother, friend and unconditional loving "Mom" Gentry went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 30, 2013, at the Four Seasons Elizabeth House.

She will be in our hearts forever and will be missed dearly. We know that she is now walking those "streets of gold" with her beloved "Preacher" and all those she loved dearly who have gone before her.

Born in Graham County on May 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Tom & Amy Randolph Edwards.

She dedicated her life and love for her church in so many, many ways, from teaching her Sunday school class, guiding the youth, and sitting with families during their difficult, as well as, good times. She dedicated her life and love to serve the Lord. Her main goal in life was winning souls for Him.

She was a faithful servant and child of God. A blessing to each soul along her path.

She and "Preacher," together, started the Hendersonville First Church of the Nazarene in 1947 and the Nazarene Camp in 1956. She took over as president of the camp after his death, and she also served as President Emeritus until her death.

She continued the Broadcast ministry at WHKP Radio Station in Hendersonville that Dr. Gentry started in 1948 to become the longest-running radio broadcast in the history of WHKP. It was a blessing every Sunday morning to tune in to hear her messages, song and prayers.

Parasadie was married to the late Dr. W.H. Gentry for 64 years, her husband and best friend. Their journey together began outside a small hot dog stand, as she was walking home from school at age 13. This encounter started an enduring courtship followed by marriage on July 23, 1935. They have now been reunited in heaven at the Foot Log.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Wyatt Gentry, as well as, his wife, Lorie Gentry, and Joel Gentry. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Buddy Brevard and Michael Lynn Gentry; a son-in-law, Marvin Brevard. Nine brother and sisters, whom she loved with all her heart, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son David and his wife Kelly of Murphy, a daughter Viola ""Sissy"" Brevard of Hendersonville, grandchildren, Stephanie Gentry Wolfe and her husband Rick, Shannon Gentry Adams, Lindsey Gentry, Linda B. Motola, Lauren Gentry, Janet G. Gillam and husband Randy, Barbara G. Sterenberg and her husband Peter, Linda Carol and her husband Paul Dominy, Donna Dunlow and her husband Chris, Davis Gentry, Donald Wyatt Gentry, Jr., Greyson Gentry, and Shawn Gentry. As well as a daughter-in-law, Beth Gentry, also surviving are 19 great-children, 4 great-great grandchildren, as well as many of her church children.

A Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 3, 2013, at Hendersonville First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Sherman Waters, the Rev. James Staggs, Dr. Mark Barnes, the Rev. Eddie Clayton, the Rev. Roland Jones and Mickey Marvin. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.
