HENDERSONVILLE - Lurline Carlisle Slider, 91, of Hendersonville, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late Ned and Maidee Eggleston. She graduated from Atlanta Girls High School and studied at the High Museum of Art (Atlanta Art Institute) and the University of Georgia Atlanta Division (now Georgia State University).
She was married to the late Ray Allen Slider and was preceded in death by her son, Courtenay Dixon Slider.
Lurline worked at Southern Bell in Atlanta as an executive secretary before moving to Hendersonville in 1955.
She was a talented artist and received countless awards for her paintings. She served as art editor for the Georgia State University yearbook. She was also a member of the Arts League of Henderson County, the Asheville China Painting Guild and was arts chairman for the Forrest Women's Club where she also served as president in 1963.
Lurline spent most of her time with her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a blessing to our family.
Lurline is survived by one daughter, Valerie Jamison, of Hendersonville. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Dotti Smathers and Tippi Mace, of Hendersonville, and Adam Robinson, of McLean, Va.
She was the best Momo ever to great-grandchildren AJ O'Neill, Will Smathers, Christian and Carlisle Mace, and Rayanna Robinson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Presbyterian Home for Children.
