HENDERSONVILLE-Ronald Applegate went home to be with his Lord November 25, 2013 at the age of 76. |
He was predeceased by his daughter Pamela Jo. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Meredith, son Bradley, daughter-in-law Brenda, granddaughters Kara Jo of Waterford, Connecticut, and Melody of Orange, California.
He was born in Indiana on February 6, a day he shared with Ronald Reagan's birthday.
He graduated from Purdue University and reminded people that 23 astronauts, including Neil Armstrong, graduated from Purdue.
Not being a fan of cold weather, he moved his family to sunny Southern California in 1961 where they lived for 44 years. The icing on the cake was being closer to his beloved Dodgers.
He spent the majority of his career as a garment manufacturer. He flunked retirement several times; then took a variety of jobs that interested him.
Ron completely retired in 2005 and moved with his wife to Hendersonville where he found a wonderful church home at First Baptist.
