HENDERSONVILLE-Anne Moore Snellgrove, 83, died peacefully, Friday, June 13, 2014.
Anne Moore Snellgrove was born on January 14, 1931 in Greenville, S.C. to Dr. William Dewey Moore and Elizabeth Daniel Bates Moore. She graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School in 1949 and graduated from Converse College with a B.A. in English Literature, Summa Cum Laude, in 1953. She was a nationally ranked tennis player in both high school and college. She taught in the Florida public school system in Winter Haven, Florida before marriage. She was married to Thomas Cunningham Snellgrove, Sr. from 1959--1997 until his death. After marriage, she worked as the parish secretary for St. Benedict's Episcopal Church, Plantation, FL for 17 years.
She is survived by her two sons: Thomas Cunningham Snellgrove, Jr of Vero Beach, FL and James Daniel Snellgrove of Greenville, NC. as well a Niece Elizabeth "Libby" Bates Kennedy of Wilmington, NC and a Nephew William "Bill" Moore Kennedy of Charlotte, NC. She has six grandchildren, three great nieces and a great nephew.
She affected, impacted and touched countless lives, young and old, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed her family and God's Blessings every day.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1997 and sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Moore Sterling, in 2005.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday June 21, 2014 at St. James Episcopal Church, with Reverend Dr. Joel G. Hafer officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
