1927 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
Carolyn Della Murphy Entwistle passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Carolina Village in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She was born in Bartow, Georgia on October 30, 1927 to parents, Julian Ridgeway "Bud" Murphy and Della Jane Scruggs Murphy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James William "Jimmy" Entwistle, Jr.
Carolyn attended public schools in Savannah, Georgia. She was a graduate of Armstrong Junior College in Savannah.
Carolyn was a retiree of the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, D. C. after a career of approximately forty years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Hendersonville where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Esther Circle. She did volunteer work at the Pardee Hospital for several years.
Survivors include her sister, Betty Murphy Meeks (James) of Kennesaw, Georgia; two nieces, Alice Meeks Wehbe (Edward) of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Gwendolyn "Gwen" Cowart (Roger) of Juliette, Georgia; three nephews, Robert Meeks (Lenore) of Woodstock, Georgia; Rhodes Murphy, Jr. (Lynn) of Merritt Island, Florida; and Thomas "Tommy" Murphy (Brenda) of Albany, Georgia; eight grand-nieces; and nine grand-nephews.
A grave-side funeral service will be held at Westover Memorial Park cemetery, 2601 Wheeler Road, in Augusta, Georgia at 1:00pm on Friday, November 25, 2016. Elliott Sons Funeral Home in Martinez, Georgia is in charge of funeral arrangements.
