Dorothy Hosea Pearce died August 5, 2013 in Stanwood WA with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born 12/15/19 in Atlanta Georgia to Fred and Roxie Hosea. Her father was city commissioner of Miami for 8 years in the 1940's. A cherished accomplishment of his was the development of Lake Hosea in Saluda NC. Dorothy and her husband Phil loved the Lake and surrounding area and lived there for many years. All her children, their spouses and her grandchildren loved Lake Hosea. It was Dorothy's spiritual home.
Dorothy lived a full life between raising her family and many volunteer pursuits in NC, GA FL, and WA. Some of these included being the church organist at the Church of the Transfiguration in Saluda, an active member of the Mountain Page Community Club, working with Trend Community Mental Health in Hendersonville and serving on the Alcohol/Drug Council of NC. She loved walking through the woods of Saluda and was especially proud of the shortia she had growing around the house. She endeavored to cover the hillside at the back of her home with native plants and delighted in picking and cooking with the wild blueberries and blackberries.
She was an accomplished pianist, writer and watercolor artist. Her greatest devotion was to her family who were all carried by her tremendous love, courage and grace.
She was preceded in death by her husband Phil in 1979. She is survived by children Marilyn(Dee) Edington, Phil(Tanya) Pearce, Nace(Martha)Pearce, Trisha(Kathleen McKee)Pearce, David Pearce; grandchildren David(Stacie)Edington, Meg(Jerry)Holcomb, Mary El Pearce, Lakisha(Rick)Kleinbrook, Oly & Geneva Pearce and great grandsons, Matthew, Jonathan, and Ethan.
