Ella Rufatti , loving mother, grandmother ,and friend to many passed away 16 September.
Ella was born in Switzerland and had many memories of living during wartime that affected Europe and her family.
From rationing of food and goods to being sent away from her hometown of Basel to spent a good portion of her childhood in her beloved Ascona in the southern part of Switzerland .
Her early experiences shaped her kind and generous nature through the rest of her life . Traveling and working in The Netherlands and England ,from hand rolling cigars, hotel work, being a nanny and a fashion model for a house of couture, Ella then crossed the ocean to America where she met her husband Mario in New York through the Swiss club they both
attended . Ella then dedicated her days to her beloved family and raising three children . Married to a renowned chef Ella was an excellent cook in her own right as seen by her successful catering company and being asked to cook for the yacht club on Long Island . As well as cooking and providing her children a childhood filled with varied experiences Ella was a highly talented artist.
Painting beautifully detailed images on delicate porcelain Ella was a lifetime leader and educator in china painting clubs that reached around the world and garnered many awards , she leaves a legacy of encouragement and patience to many .
Preceded in death by husband Mario , infant son Kenneth , siblings --Fritz , Edward ,and Trudy she leaves behind her much loved children-Corinne , Mario , Monique and grandchildren –Rosa , Morgan . Kenneth , and Geneva . Memorial service to be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard NC , 1 October 2013 at 11 :00 am with interment on church grounds to follow.
Ella made a gentle impact on all she met and was a true lady , she will be missed dearly by many –but most of all by her children.
