Obituary Condolences

HENDERSONVILLE-Ellen Cole Hobbs, age 92 of Hendersonville passed away Wednesday, May 6th, 2015 at her residence following an illness. She was born October 22, 1922 in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Raymond M. Cole and Loula Lauffer Cole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer Hobbs; and her brother, David Cole.
She graduated from Kutztown University and taught art at Hendersonville High School for 30 years, retiring in 1985. After retirement she opened her house to the public to view the many items she has collected around the world; masks, model boats, baskets, brass objects, dolls, textiles, and ceramic birds. She was a pilot, champion sailor, water color painter, wood sculptor, hiker, and bicycler.
She is survived by her husband, Charles D'Augustine; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Hobbs and Elin Dowdican, David and Bonnie Hobbs; and her nieces and nephews and their spouses and partner, Bradley Cole and Holly Tompkins, Gary and Soepiah Cole, Lisa and Scott Duffy, Bert Hobbs, Jr., Benjamin and Sandi Hobbs, Jim and Karen Hobbs, Nancy and Bob Sims, and Ruth Ann Gregorio.
Private graveside services will be held at Shepherd Memorial Park.
Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Four Seasons Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion.
