HENDERSONVILLE- Jena Moffitt, 84, died April 29, 2013 at The Elizabeth House following a period of declining health. She was born July 21, 1928 in Hendersonville to Clarence and Dohonov Anders Powell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of almost 55 years, William A. (Bill) Moffitt and her brother, JC Powell. Jean had a successful career as a wife and mother, raising three reasonably decent sons: Ron (Sally) of Hendersonville; Terry (Cindy) of High Pointl; and Ken (Sandy) of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Abby Downing (Henry) of Charleston, SC; Lindsay Dunn (John) of Fulton, MD; HollyWallace (Michael) of Knoxville, TN; Zach Moffitt of Columbia, SC; and Jake Moffitt of Greenville, SC. In addition she is survived by three great-grandchildren. She was a member of French Broad Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at Shepherd Memorial Park. The Rev. Kemuel Pruitt will officiate. Following the service the family will be at the home of Ron Moffitt, 1101 Scheppergrell Drive.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731; the Henderson County Rescue Squad, PO Box 1729, Hendersonville, NC 28793 or French Broad Baptist Church, Grandview Lane, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
