HENDERSONVILLE - Gary Michael Corn, age 69 of Hendersonville died Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born October 22, 1946 in Henderson County to the late Tellie and Carrie Mae Middleton Corn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Elizabeth "Beth" Corn; as well as a son, Monte Davis; his five brothers: Tellie Corn, Jr., Phillip Corn, Arnold Corn, Marlon Corn, Curtis Corn; his infant brother; and two infant sisters.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, Mr. Corn graduated from Edneyville High School and was employed with Norfolk Southern Railroad for 26 years, retiring in 1998. He was a hard working man and was dedicated to his family not only as a faithful husband, but as a loving father and provider.
Mr. Corn is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Shelva Jean Wilkie Corn of the home; his son, Roy Michael Corn and his wife, Cindy of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Catelynn, Connor, Callie, and Colson Corn all of Raleigh; numerous nieces and nephews including: special nieces: Robin Munley of Chesapeake, VA, Debra Hirsch of Hendersonville; and special nephews: Tim Wilkie, Brian Russell both of Hendersonville; a special great niece Brittany Wilkie of South Carolina, as well as his special friend and caregiver for many years, Robert Goforth of Marshall; special sister-in-law, Kay Wilkie of Virginia Beach; and DOG.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Shepherd Memorial Park with the Rev. Tony Reese officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thos. Shepherd & Son.
