Obituary Condolences

HIAWASSE, GA-A Memorial Service for George W. Denton will be held Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Lower Hightower Baptist Church on Swallows Creek Road in Hiawassee, Georgia. The North Georgia Honor Guard will provide military honors at the conclusion of the service and internment will be in the Lower Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Hiawasse, George was the son of the late D. Denton and Myrtle Eller Denton of Upper Hightower settlement in Towns County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Grace Nicholson, Gladys Hooper, Dorsey Worley, Edith Chambers, Ethel Everett, Opal Buchanan, and one brother, Earl Denton. A beloved daughter, Sharon Drummond of Greer, SC, also preceded him in death in 2008.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Bonnie Russell Denton; a daughter, Janice Hyder (Frank Ronald) of Beech Island, SC; two sons, Wayne Denton (Betty)of Hendersonville, NC; and Robert Denton, of Woodway, Texas; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson of Etowah, NC; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolina Memorial Park Funerals & Cremations of North Charleston, South Carolina was in charge of local arrangements following his death on April 12, 2013.
