Gerald D. Brooks Obituary
HENDERSONVILLE-Gerald D. Brooks, 79, of Hendersonville passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at Pardee Memorial Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Hendersonville, he was a son of the late Roy Brooks and Emma Beddingfield. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Sherrill Brooks.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Concord 307, AF and AM in Vienna, VA. He attended the Unity Center of Mills River.
A family man, he is survived by Carolyn to whom he was married to for almost twenty eight years. Together they loved their children; Cindy Miller (Michael), Kim Elliott (Mark) and Leslie Richardson (Bob); six grandchildren, Brandy Wilson (Tommy), Josh Israel (Meghan), Amanda Dryman (Dewayne), Matthew Elliott (Lauryl), Rose Richardson and Sam Richardson; three great-grandchildren, Andy, Emma and Morgan Wilson; two great-grandsons due in the spring; one brother, Roy Brooks, Jr. (Diane); two sisters, Elaine Brown and Jereline Sexton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 P.M. Friday, January 17, 2014, in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Chaplain Charles Kirby will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Etowah Baptist Church Kenya Mission Trip Fund, P.O. Box 326, Etowah, NC 28729.
