HENDERSONVILLE - Gloria "June" Eastman, 87, of Hendersonville, died on Monday, March 4, 2013. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on a "glorious" June day in Eastborne, England according to the family story. Her parents were the late Alban Bernard Chasey and Viola Chasey, of England.
She arrived in the United States as a World War II "war bride" in 1946 and was married to the late Philip W. Eastman for 60 years. The joy in her life was to plan family holiday gatherings. Her hobbies were baking and needlework as well as being a Girl Scout leader and volunteer for local hospitals and nursing homes. She adored her special pets that she had rescued.
Surviving are brother, John Chasey, of Bedford, England; two daughters, Jane Schneble, of Hendersonville, and Jill Hindman, of Ocala, Fla.; a son, David Eastman, of New York; four grandchildren, Master Sergeant Mathew Kanter, of the United States Air Force, Elizabeth Rule, of Florida, Heidi Schneble, of Washington, D.C., and Dr./Captain Erika Schneble, of the United States Air Force, and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in England.
